Monk Poster
Date
2025
The Monk Poster is a personal project that I designed in Barcelona. While visiting Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya, I really enjoyed looking at the posters from the 1930s. I liked the posters so much that I decided to make something inspired based on what I saw at the museum.
I decided to make a poster inspired by my favorite TV show, Monk. I used colors and text from the show’s official art, and tried to use a style loosely based on the posters that I saw. Two of the posters that I drew the most inspiration from were Dubonnet by Cassandre and El hombre y el monstruo by Antoni Clavé.
In the aforementioned works, I noticed that the artists used very bold typography, which is what led me to choose the font for the title of the poster. In Dubonnet, I noticed that the supporting font was much thinner. I made a simple vector drawing of the face of Adrian Monk, the main character of the show. I drew the eyeglass, as I wanted something connected to Monk’s profession, as he is a private detective.
